hi Fabio

Unfortunately we do not have any release ready code for a DICOM viewer. We have recently created a prototype DICOM viewer written in Silverlight, but at this stage it is only early prototype code and is not ready for release.

Using projections we created a pseudo 3d effect. Areas that we found tricky (and did not fully solve) were the colour mapping from 24bpp grayscale to 8 bpp RGB that silverlight supports. We looked at creating a widget that allows the user to focus on a particular colour range.

If we plan to upgrade and release the code in the future I will drop you a note to let you know where and when. Good luck, and sorry we cannot help you any further at this stage.

Hi Tom, I have this same requirement.  Are you able to let me know how this progresses also?

Cheers.

If you can make do with a Standalone App for a while ClearCanvas is avilable at http://www.clearcanvas.ca/dnn/.  It is an open source, c# DICOM image viewer.

Also, if you are slightly more ambitious you can check out the mDCM library at http://code.google.com/p/mdcm/.  It is an open source DICOM library in C#.

LEAD Technologies is shipping a commercial grade native DICOM Silverlight SDK. This includes support for extensive image processing and handling of extended grayscale (including signed) image data, window leveling and LUT, DICOM dataset manipulation, various compression scheme including JPEG 2000 to DICOM annotation. Toolkit provides all the underlying functionalities including measurement tools, cine, zoom, pan etc. to build diagnostic quality DICOM/PACS viewer.

Please see this page for more information:

I have adapted Colby Dillion's mdcm library to Silverlight, if you are interested you can find the fork here: https://github.com/cureos/mdcm. It can display B/W single frame images. It can load uncompressed and RLE compressed DICOM images, JPEG is currently not supported (I have not been able to find any open source managed JPEG codec that can handle 12-bit images). Any feedback is highly appreciated.
